Avis Rent a Car and Truck Rental- Toms River

Do NOT rent a car from this location. I strongly urge you to steer clear of this Avis. I had the absolute WORST experience I’ve had with this location. A complete nightmare. They put a $455 hold on my credit card AFTER the vehicle was returned that I had to fight to get removed for THREE WEEKS!!!!

I rented a car from another Avis location and soon found out that I was given a car with a big bolt in one tire and it was losing air. I called customer service and they said bring it to the closest Avis location for an exchange. I called this Toms River location, explained the situation. He's sounded very disinterested and said he had no cars available. I hung up the phone, drove straight there, pretended to be a new customer that wanted to rent a car, and he had several cars for me to choose from. When I told him he just talked to me and told me he had no cars, he just kind of shrugged his shoulders and started to process the exchange. This location was willing to put my family's safety in jeopardy rather than do their job when I initially called. Disgusting.

Very young Male manager, was very rude. I asked him to come out and check the car for damages before I took it. He said he checked it when it was brought back in. I go to walk out , realize he didnt give me my receipt or copy of rental agreement only to find out he closed and locked the door and wouldn't come out. Finally his ride gets there, he comes out, I asked for my receipt and tell him about the damages on the car and only half a tank of gas. He documented it and then said how dare I knock on the door after he closed.nTold me he gave me an upgrade but the explorer i wanted was out of service but if i didnt take this damaged car, then he didnt have any others!!!!

Friendly efficient people. Reserved a car online and they were ready for me when I got there. Showed ID and credit card and in the car in about 10 minutes.
