Avis Car Rental

I will NEVER try to rent a car from Avis and this specific location ever again as their employees lie to you. I had a reservation that I made online a few weeks ago using a debit card (do not have a credit card to use). The only thing that was said online about debit card use is that some locations don't accept debit cards, but my reservation and charge went through online.nnNearly 1 week before my reserved day to pick up the car, I show up at the location to confirm everything I did online and that I would be ok to pickup the car on the coming Friday. The representative at that location said everything would be fine and that using a debit online to reserve the car was perfectly fine and so I left, confident that the rental car for my trip and everything else would go smoothly. Fast forward to that Friday and it was a complete disaster.nnFirst of all, the guy opening that location was late by nearly 10 minutes. After he got in and helped the person in front of me and it was my turn, this is where things went south. I gave him my driver's license and debit card and after waiting for about 5 minutes or so, he comes back out and said he's sorry, but he doesn't have the vehicle that I reserved online at all and offered to upgrade me to a Jeep Wrangler. Was not happy with that because the gas mileage on those things are horrible, but I reluctantly agreed because I needed a vehicle for my trip. After another 5 to 7 minutes he comes back out and says sorry, they can't accept my reservation because they had to do a soft credit check from my debit card and it was denied. I was livid because I told him another one of his employees from a week earlier assured me that everything would be fine when I came to pick up my reservation and it wasn't. This guy then told me to calm down and that there was nothing he could and that I would have to call customer service.nnI called customer service and they told me the same exact thing that there was nothing they could do. Because of this, the entire trip I had planned to Austin, TX has been completely ruined through the Labor Day weekend. Thank goodness Expedia was more sympathetic and able to fully cancel and refund the full charges of my reservations I had at the hotel in Austin.nnStay away from this particular location, as the employees there lie to you, don't always have the car available to you that you reserved online and are unsympathetic to you and don't do anything to try and resolve the situation. I even used a special discount that my Employer has with Avis, but because of this, I will see what I can to do contact the higher ups of my company to recommend that they drop AVIS as a recommended rental car company for special discounts. Absolutely horrible customer service and I will never again try renting a car from AVIS or recommend them to anyone.

My reservation was for a minivan and the one (only 1 in the parking lot) that I got was not in condition for driving because the exhaust was detached underneath and hanging just 2 inches off the ground. As soon as I turned the ignition the noise level was very loud. The Avis operator came out, looked at the vehicle and determined it is a no-go. He ended up giving me an SUV, however took 40 minutes for cleaning out the vehicle prior to giving it to me. I was not the only one, there was another lady in the same situation (exhaust issue) with her rental. The bottom line for this location is that there are not enough vehicles in the lot, poor maintenance of vehicles, not enough staff on hand. Seems like 1 person is doing everything, from checking cars out, checking cars in, taking vehicles somewhere away from the locations to clean just before giving it to customers. Improvement is definitely needed. Or open another location with different operator other than the airport location.

Made reservations for a full size vehicle and they didn't have what I wanted. They offered me a smaller vehicle which I didn't want and said there's nothing else they could really do for me..i called customer service and they said you can pick one up from the airport and we'll honor the same price. Wouldn't give any price breaks or anything after waiting outside in the heat for 15 minutes because their lobby wasn't letting customers in..avis doesn't care about their customers!!

1000% DO NOT recommend this location!!! This is the first time I have rented a car from Acid so I'm not sure if this is standard for them or not but this specific location was horrible service. I scheduled a pick up time for 8am when they open as we were needing to leave town immediately. They guy showed up 15 minutes late to open the store. He was rude and didn't have the van I reserved a month earlier. We had to wait Another 40 minutes for them to bring a can from another location and it wasn't cleanedin the back. When we returned the van again the guy had left and put a sign on the door that he would return at 5. I will never do business here again!!

The inside of our windshield was filthy. So bad that we had to buy some Windex to clean it before we could drive it. Hubby left his glasses in the console and it took 3 phone calls (1 to corporate) before we could actually get in contact with someone, only to find out the car had already been rented out (obviously no one checked in the console). With covid-19 around right now, I have little faith that this car was adequately cleaned.
