Avis Car Rental

Came in at 9:25 to pick up my rental reservation for 9:30 and was not waited on for 35 minutes while he was out cleaning another car out back. I had plans to be an hour away recording with my band and that alone had me off schedule. Then, the first car I get had a bad alignment issue pulling to the left so I had to bring it back and the guy tells me it’s the blind spot when the car doesn’t even have that feature. So he gives me another car that smells like smoke but drove fine. The night before I was due to return it I got pulled over by a state trooper and didn’t know why. He said the car came back as a rental, but with a suspended tag and after I let the same guy know who tried to tell me it was blind spot with the other car, he just starts jumbling up more excuses. Nothing was done to resolve my bad experience but he was certainly okay with charging me more for returning it with a little less gas than it had in it. Terrible experience and I will not deal with it again. I’ll take my money to a good rental company that won’t give me illegal cars to drive. Ironic that Avis has the same number of letters as JOKE.

Do not rent from here!! They did not honor a 5 day Budget truck rental and did nothing to help me find a moving truck all week. I spent over 5k making other arrangements and being displaced during a big move. Very unprofessional and not customer oriented.nA reservation should be honored everytime. This company and management is awful all the way up to the corporate and customer service lines. They simply do not care of you get your rental or not. They have no inventory and are not going to help you.

Avis did not have my vehicle ready at scheduled time of pickup. The person at the counter said he was to receive 3 minivans before that morning, and none had come. No one had told him why, nor when that situation might change. What kind of company treats their local managers that way? So I waited an hour standing in the lobby while he tried to figure out what to do. He gave me a car to drive to the next state over, so I could trade it at that Avis with a minivan in their stock, and then I drove all the way back so I could load up and start my trip late. No adjustment was made to my return time, so I ended up with only 4.5 hours of sleep once I reached my destination, getting up and driving it to the return location. No, I’d be reluctant to recommend Avis, as the company can not deliver on its promises, and left me (and their local person) with no clue there was an issue. Avis did not refund any money to me for my trouble, nor did they adjust my return time. I ended up being something of an unpaid transfer driver just so I could go on my trip. I almost didn’t make it. The company is a mess in my opinion.

Would not recommend. Rented a car here and when we arrived we found out that the guy gave our far away. The second car he gave to us smelled like weed and was absolutely gross inside. He offered his last car which was full or trash, smelled like smoke and had a huge crack along the windshield. When we got in after doing paperwork we were running late for our trip. It had 0% oil life and had a nail in the back tire that we had to keep stopping to get it filled with air. They were supposed to refund us the entire amount but only gave us $30 back.. we will never use this company again. They don’t clean their cars after each use and the car was supposed to be full of gas and it was not.

Staff member was very helpful and informed and willing to address my questions and concerns.
