Avis Car Rental

I just received a strange phone call regarding my previous Avis rental from an outside company. The company claimed I scratched my rental. However, the company could not provide me information on the damages, nor even tell me my address or email address. It seemed fraudulent, so I called Avis Duluth to ask if this was legitimate. Avis Duluth seemed enraged that I call them. I simply asked politely if this company was legitimate and for any details they could provide. They told me that they have no information for me and that I should call a specific lady at this outside company. That exchange, when the Avis employee mentioned a specific person, also seemed strange. Then the Avis employee hung up on me without any goodbye or any closing comments at all. Furthermore, no one can provide me with information regarding the alleged damages. For the record, I know the car was not scratched under my watch. I only parked in driveways next to no other vehicles. So now I have to trust that this person at this strange outside company is telling the truth without any supporting evidence nor information from Avis. I feel like I am being taken advantage of. This is not the way to do business, or settle a dispute.nnEDIT: I reached out to Avis, following the instructions in the comment/reply below this post. Avis told me that since Avis Duluth is a franchise/licensee that corporate Avis could not help me. They stated they have no control over Avis Duluth. I reached out to Avis Duluth again and could not get ahold of them. My general sense is that corporate Avis has no oversight over Avis Duluth. I recommend that everyone stays away.

I really can not comment on the rentals at Avis because I couldn’t get past the rude female that answered the phone. As someone that works in the travel industry, the Avis representative should recognize that not everyone is familiar with the city they are visiting, in this case, Duluth. When I asked if there was taxi service available, the clerk burst into laughter. The pandemic has changed many things and it’s been my experience that many cities/states have different policies. The clerk proceeded to tell me “ this IS Duluth!” ???? Thankfully, the Alamo rental rep.,the Uber driver, and the multiple others we’ve come in contact with during our stay have been much more accommodating and answers our questions w/o being demeaning. Avis, you’re only as good as your weakest link. One star is generous.

I needed to rent a car while mine was in the shop over the weekend. I stopped by Enterprise, but they were out of cars as usual. I called Budget, and they had cars for $55 per day. So I drove to the airport for Budget, but I noticed there were other car rentals like Avis. I went up to the Avis counter and asked if they had cars available. The salesperson was very friendly and helpful. The process of renting the car only took a few minutes, and the total cost of my three day rental was what other places wanted for just one day. The service at Avis was friendly, fast, and affordable.

Staff was great, my rental sucked!
