Dollar Car Rental

We rented a car from Fairbanks Airport Dollars Car Rental place in Sep 2020. We had a good experience with them. For customer service for picking-up and returning (no waiting line), we would give 5 starts (out of 5). We had a nice chat (she even recommended us some downtown restaurants) with the agent and it was a smooth process for both picking-up and returning.nn5 days of rental cost a total of $193 for us (daily rate @ $31.5, for compact car), all inclusive. We got a 2020 Toyota Corolla with ~12K miles. Overall the car was clean, but had some black stains on the clothes seat. No any smell and mechanical issues free.nnOur only complaint was there was a long windshield crack on the car, but then we noticed nearly all the Dollar’s cars had huge/long windshield cracks, while most other companies’ cars did not have it (We walked through the whole rental parking lot to examine this). Had a chat with the agent when we returned the car, and her explanation was this was very common for cars in Northern Alaska, and when you rent a car, you want one with cracked windshield, because if you then get another chip or crack, you won’t be liable for the new damage.nnSince we noticed nearly none of the other company’s cars had windshield cracks, our only conclusion was, you get what you paid for (Dollar had the cheapest price). This was the trade off. It didn’t bother us too much. But if you have safety concerns, try to avoid Dollar and go with another brand.nnAll in all, we may consider renting with them again if we are in the area, if the price is right. 5* on the agent service!

Rented a car at the airport and everything was fine until I tried the windshield washer. Didn’t work but hey , it cold and we are in Alaska. Should be ok once it gets thawed out. It’s didn’t so we called to see what could be done. Spoke with a gentleman named Art. He informed us that we could upgrade to a vehicle that cost more or we can come back tomorrow when the boss was there. The worst customer service! I get it, things happening but try to make it right. It’s absolutely unexceptionable to make us pay extra for a vehicle that isn’t broken.

I needed a car while mine was in the shop and Dollar had the best rates I could find in town. My car was ready for me when I got there and when I ended up not needing the car for the entire time originally planned, I was refunded the appropriate amount back to my card.

If I could give these people a negative star I would! Please save your time and money and DO NOT RENT your car with these people! Penny was the absolute worst! She was rude and mean and does not have any customer service skills at all! The young lady at enterprise next to them at the airport actually assisted me and my sister and helped us with what penny needed because she was no help at all. She had a nasty attitude! The car had a huge crack on the front windshield and made it difficult to drive. Didn’t tell me where I could find the car just handed a key and receipt over and said park the car in the dollar area and bring it back full of gas that’s all she said!. Had to walk out in the snow to find it and if she would of told us where my sister and I wouldn’t of been out in the freezing cold, snowing weather for over thirty minutes looking for it.. Never will I use or recommend this company to anyone. Dollar car rental suits for the fact that it was cheap and useless customer service. Will definitely go with enterprise next time. Never again! Please hire better people to assist in the front who are nice and actually want to help. Not get frustrated or start with a nasty attitude when you’re asking for clarification because they don’t explain correctly and leave things up for interpretation.

Flew in for a class from anchorage was told car was ready, plugged in and had been running... ok I’m from Alaska I get normal stuff, get to car ice on everything, not plugged in car barely started after 4 attempts. Was not full of fuel only had 3/4 tank, No biggie , wasn’t going to complain about 6.00 of fuel, I get to motel had to pop hood and dig through wiring at 20 below to find plug, car had regular tires no Studs or winter tires?. And was low on fluids.. ok I’m a man I can deal so I get back 2 days later (tonight) turned car in woman working was not at counter waited 5-10 min for her to show up, politely tried to go over issues I had, not asking or wanting a refund, she cut me off, extremely rude, bum deal this was second bad experience with dollar in Fairbanks won’t make mistake again.
