Don't trust dollar car rental! The staff is cordial but manager not so much! Mr Philips is a shyster. We noticed a tire on our rental was low in air. So, proctively, we decided to fill it with air. We called the dollar rental location at pdx airport to see if we can get a replacement as we felt it wasn't safe to drive around. Mr. Phillips, the manager on duty answered the phone, did some basic inquiry and then asked us to fill the gas tank full 'since we were at a gas station' already. Mind you ...we had signed up for the 'no fill' option at the time of signing the agreement. He told us to fill the tank without explaining to us why it would be cheaper for us to do that. He simply said go ahead and fill the tank and bring the car back to the location for a replacement. Upon arrival, he never offered an apology or empathy for the trouble that we went through in bringing the car back to the location or for that matter even any safety concerns of driving a vehicle that had a 'maintenance required' light on the screen. This light was there at the time of the onset of renting it. He said we didn't say anything to them about this when we checked the car before rented it. He then repeatedly dismissed this as a standard light that comes on all cars from time to time and when I asked why don't they didn't heed the maintenance alert before they rent such cars out ( so that it feels safe for the driver/their customer) he brushed me off as saying 'you must not know about this light then.'nBad customer service from a guy who is managing the place! And business ethics!

Nowhere on the website that I could see while trying to rent a car for an emergency rescue, said that there is a 250 dollar hold on your card on top of the price you see online. I didn't have that much on my credit card, and they don't do debit. Thankfully we have amazing neighbors willing to drive us over 4 hours round trip.

They refused to give me a car because I didn't have a credit card and they wouldn't except my debit card which is a Visa. So the only thing good is I got a full refund.
