Avis Car Rental

Avis was a great experience, easy to pick up car. I rented a 4 door jeep and it was fun to drive the island in. Definitely would rent again. I just wish the rate was not by day but would pro rated, after the 24 hour period. I paid for a whole day when I only needed it 4 more hours. Rented at Honolulu airport. Location was right at the airport. No shuttle needed. We flew into terminal 2 and simply walked to rental car garage. All went smoothly and we had no issues. Quick to check in and get our car, and quick to check out at the end of our stay. There is some construction going on so there was a bit of confusion in finding the place to begin with so better signage would be helpful but we just asked and were pointed in right direction.

The rental experience wasn't the normal premier experience I expected. The class of car I rented was not available. I was upgraded to a SUV, but it did not have even basic modern features that one would expect (like bluetooth or a rear view backup camera). For how tight parking is in Waikiki, a backup camera is a must. I had to come back later in the day for another type of car. I received a convertible, however it was not in great condition. Tire balance was off, wiper blades were worn, alignment was off, and there was a persistent gap in the window.nnCars felt more worn and older than Avis rentals you would find on the mainland. Many seemed past their prime. I think I would try a different company next time.

Tire air cap was missing when I rented a car, tire had issues, requiring me to pay extra money and spend time on filling air on one of the tires. Otherwise, pick up and drop off process went smoothly. Shuttle services to and from the terminals were ok.

Rented here yesterday, the process was very smooth. The car rental area was right across from the airport, easy to find. Scotty was very nice and super helpful!
