Do yourself a favor and DO NOT rent from Hertz. This place a complete mess. I rented a car for a week on June 22, 2020 and I returned it on June 29th. The following day my card was supposed to be credited with the $200 deposit but instead I was charged $64.00. The following day I was charged $64.00. Then I decided to physically go to the Hertz location in which I received the rental to get to the bottom of this issue. I went and spoke to the gentlemen inside the establishment and he was already frustrated and agitated because he was dealing with several customers and he was also working alone. I informed him that my debit card was being charged for the last two days and I had already returned the rental. He then instructed me to contact the the customer service number and provided me with a number.nnI called the customer service number and was on hold for 40 minutes. Yes that’s right! 40 MINUTES!!!! The representative who answered was very condescending and showed no empathy or remorse. She explained that my card was being charged because according to her records the account was still active and I still had the rental. I then return inside of the hertz location and inform the employee that the account was never closed and asked if he could close it now. He did just that and provided me with a receipt.nnFurthermore, Today July 2, 2020 my card was charged again $251 from Hertz. Furious at this point I decided to go to my bank to dispute the charges and cancel my card because hertz seems to be incompetent. I also called the Hertz customer service number once again and was on hold for approximately 33 minutes this time. Once I finally got a hold of someone, I explained to him that my card was wrongfully charged for 3 consecutive days and my $200 deposit was never returned. He was incapable of explaining to me why my card was still being charged and informed me that my money should be refunded within 5-7 days. Meanwhile, I will have accumulated overdraft fees because of this whole ordeal. So again do yourself a favor and head on over to Enterprise for your rental needs.
