Budget Car Rental

3 hours to get our rental car after arriving at the rental office???!!! Insanity. Stood in line for 1.75hrs to get checked it, then had to wait 1.25hrs for our car to come around the corner! Absolutely horrible service. Worst I have ever had and the explanation I got was there was just a lot of reservations that day. Sounds like management and operations dropped the ball. Worst of all, we get in the car and it wasn't even cleaned!!! Are you kidding me?! Found a used face mask laying on the floor in the back seats. The cars were not being cleaned just ran under a hose. Worst experience ever, management and operations need to be reviewed and made more efficient. We flew in at 5:30pm and didn't get of the rental office until almost 9pm, hungry and not able to get the food we wanted since most places had closed at 8pm. I'm still fuming! When we got out of the shuttle there were no clear markings what side of the building to enter so people were just getting into either of two lines, only to realize once you get up to the counter after 2hrs that one of the lines is for preferred customers only. My agent didn't mention anything since he understood that making people get into the other line and wait about 2hrs would have been insane, however the agent next to him was giving the customer next to me such a hard time about why they were in the preferred line. Lady, people were just getting into either line since there was a huge flock of people standing around and there was no clear signage outside! I felt so bad for the customers next to me since they were foreign and struggled with English as well. No one deserves to be treated that way. Only upside was the shuttle drivers were super nice and helpful, drop off was a breeze.

I read a lot of negative reviews about Budget before we arrived, but they were the cheapest rental - which we all knows wins! I honestly had no issues with my rental. The agent was very nice and got us in and out very quick. The line was the usual long, but I expect that when almost 300 people get off a plane to get their cars. Great job Budget and thanks for getting us on the road in a (semi) clean car for our week on The Big Island!

You were basically the only reasonable option available as we waited too long to book. I normally wouldn't have considered Budget from an experience 15 years ago of a bad vehicle experience...poorly maintained and was dirty. But your price was way better than anyone who still had cars left so I gave it a shot. Was very pleased with the vehicle (better than what I booked!) and all the service we received from the counter to the guy at the return to our shuttle driver. All were really great!

I use Fastbreak and bypass the long line. The cars are always ready to go and often offer an upgrade. We don’t know why everyone rents a wrangler or a mustang. They’re not needed. Get the upgrade and enjoy a luxury car or nice full size. I’ve been using budget for over 20 years. They offer often the lowest rates and often are chosen over the other car rental companies.

Everything was great, except that we had found an empty soda can in front of the passenger seat upon pickup of the rental, hence why I give a 4/5. It wasn't a super huge deal so we just threw it away when we got to our destination but it tells us that the car cleaning was not done with care. Some people would be more upset than we were (considering COVID and everything). Other than that, the price was great and check-in/out was smooth. We'll use Budget again!
