Hertz

For our trip to the Big Island my husband and I needed a car to get around and the best rate we found was through Thrifty. For whatever reason, all the rentals for Thrifty, Dollar and Hertz were being handled by Hertz. This wouldn't be a problem if they had been staffed for it, but they really weren't.nnThe line to get in was crazy, which is really saying something since only the primary renter/driver was to enter the building. Due to the additional space needed for social distancing, there were only a few people in the building and under the awning outside, while the bulk of the line waited in full sun, on pavement, in the mid-day heat of the Kona airport region. Not so much fun. And as there were only 3 agents inside, the line was slow. Like, I was on site over an hour slow. Usually I'm in and out of a rental place in 30 min--if that.nnThe staff was friendly and reasonably efficient. There was a little extra push to buy their extra coverage, but not super heavy. I never get it because my auto policy covers rentals.nnGetting into my car and off the lot was easy enough, and we were finally on our way to our Hawaiian vacation.nnI would only rent again from Hertz if they were way, way cheaper than another agency because the check-in process was hot, miserable, and understaffed. The car was decent, return was easy and the rates were good.

After a 6.5 hour flight Hertz was swamped handling bother companies rentals.nAs a Gold Member Randy stepped up and quickly arranged or pre- registered rental.nIt is service as that provided by Randy that ensures Hertz loyalty.nWell done.

We got a great deal because we booked well in advance (literally 20% of what others were paying) and our vehicles were very nice. Our biggest complaint is that with Thrifty, Dollar, and Hertz all in one place, you have to wait over an hour in line to get your car. They need more agents and separate spaces.

This is for Hertz rental car kona Hawaii. People were nice but the company is a joke. I highly recommend going anywhere else. If you rent here whatever your rent is add an additional $200 for hidden fees that they do not itemize show you or tell you about. It also happened to three other groups that were with.

I've never had a Hertz experience like this before. The check-in was slow and steps were missed like adding extra drivers and paying, so they ended up charging my credit card on file instead of my debit card. The staff wasn't mean but wasn't nice and the drop off wasn't the best either. I love Hertz but not this location.
