I believe communication is key. It was extremely difficult to communicate with representative over the phone. When I went to pick up the car, the rep did not come out with me to inspect the it, and he was not friendly. When I returned the car, the rep did not come out (again) to inspect the it, and he seemed eager for me to leave the office (extremely overwhelmed with calls). a couple of days after I noticed they returned the deposit. Only to charge me an additional day. After trying a few excuses as to why the additional charge, he finally decided it was because I returned the car late, even though per my rental I did it on time. NEVER AGAIN WILL I DEAL WITH AVIS OR RECOMMEND TO ANY ONE!

By far the worst car rental experience I have had to date. They seem to be more interested in hiking up prices than providing excellent customer service. I had to threaten to make calls to superiors and corporate for them to bring down the price they were trying to charge me rather than the price they should have been charging. They were basically penalizing me for an early return which I told the manager upon renting that I wasn't sure how long I would need the car but was renting extra days just in case I would need it longer and he assured me it was fine but when it was time to return the vehicle they were hitting me with all type of fees to hike up the cost. In the end they did not want me calling corporate so they charged me appropriately. That was my first time renting from them and my LAST!

I was only in Hialeah, FL area for a week. Was getting to be deployed and my unit either forgot or didn't set me up for a rental to/from the hotel. I paid out of pocket and doing so the receptionist was courteous that he gave me a military discounted-car upgrade. I obliged and took care like it was own (car wash, V-Power gasoline, and drove carefully). Thank you for assistance for the short time I rented it.

My experience was as follows: I had to return the car I rented the day before 9:00 am, arrive at the site at 8:30 am, but the AVIS store is inside the Pembroke Pines Mall and I did not know how to get to AVIS if the MALL was closed. I managed to get in through the MACYS Store and get the car back at 9:30, and for this reason i.e. return the car 30 minutes late the store manager charged me a 35% fine on the total value, like this: --Value agreed: $126.70 - Fine: $40.2 ( 32%). Total: $166.90. Something that I find very unfair, since it wasn't my fault. (The Mall was closed)
