I normally enjoy renting from Budget. I had a 45+ minute wait at the counter for a reserved car. There was a polite apology for the wait, which was due to another customer and not enough counter help. If it had not been for the fact the other car rental counters had no vehicles Budget would have lost my business. The counter person then, after my 44+ minute wait in line for a reserved car, tried to upsell me on a larger vehicle for more money. In their defences they the realized that error and the fact that they did not have a car ready for a reservation that was an hour past due to the fact that I was kept waiting in line for 45+ minutes led then to offer me a larger vehicle at no extra cost. I was the. Told the gas prepay option, which I choose for convenience, would be charged at the flat rate advertised and not at the full fill charge rate. I am waiting to see what the final charge will be as I, as of now, hold little faith in the customer service of Budget.

We got a great minivan at this location. Minivan had only 3000 miles on it. Check in and return was very easy in this small airport. The only reason they did not get five stars is due to the front desk lady lying to me about the ‘gas service option’. I told her twice I can refill the car as I know there are many local gas stations nearby. She said it would be removed if I filled up. I called budget and they said that was incorrect and they took the $50 charge off. NOTE: when you fill the car do so within a five mile radius and hand in the gas receipt to avoid a fueling charge (it’s all in the small print). Such a shame they cannot just be upfront and honest, but it appears a lot of rental companies have this confusing refueling options.

Melbourne Airport Budget Car Rental wasn't very nice to deal with. We did get our rental and a refund on the extra car they didn't have. It worked out real nice with calling customer service.

Don't do it, prices look good, but they will triple charge you when you drop the car off. You will spend countless hours on phone calls trying to get all your credits. Not the first time I have dealt with this with budget. You have been warned.
