Avis Car Rental

AVIS @ 10 Lincoln Hwy, Fairview Heights, IL: This location is truly a community business. Everyone I have encountered there are treated like family by the employees. It seems that Mike knows everybody! He remembers names, children's ages and milestones and never fails to inquire on how we (customers) are doing and for updates on events we have mentioned during previous visits. I have not seen this level of familiarity from anyone else... but EVERYONE greets us (customers) as though we have been friends forever, so no matter who is on the desk... you feel at home. Then... the vehicles... in 9 years, I have only had 1 issue (gas was not full at pick-up) and that was handled with no problem. I rent primarily for long trips (6+ hours) so reliability and comfort are key. The staff always ensures that the car I receive fits the journey I am about to take... and if what they had planned for me does not fit the bill, they do their best to accommodate. Being a small venue, this is not always possible due to inventory limitations based on space... but they ALWAYS try... and more often than not, succeed in helping me have the best rental and travel experience possible. Looking forward to many more years of travel partnership with this location and staff!!

When I got to Avis there weren't any cars available. The clerk was rude and said we weren't there at noon so he gave away our car.Then he said he didnt have cars even the day before so didnt know why they were allowing us to book. We left he called us at 553 PM and said we had 6 minutes to get there if we wanted a car. We did make it luckily. The car was on half a tank of gas. We extended our rental and returned a day early. The clerk didnt believe me that we got it on half a tank because it was written wrong in the computer. Luckily it was on our agreement paperwork. I brought the car back with more than a half of tank. I will not deal with Avis again the way we were treated. Another customer in there was going through issues also. Just not professional. When you have a reservation you should be ok with your itinerary.

Had a 10am pick up, I had to be on the road by 11:30. Apparently that means nothing to these people... I reserved a 7 passenger SUV (an explorer) the car was on the lot; however he tried to give me a mini van instead.... I told him I didn’t want it. So then he decides to give me a different 7 passenger SUV which was fine. Turns out it wasn’t ready and needed to be cleaned. Waited 20 mins for them to clean the vehicle. Once that was over, I went to finally get the car (around 11am) and the car smelled of air fresher and cigarettes.... we aren’t smokers and the smell was so foul. So I told them I was not going to drive in that thing all weekend. I asked about the explorer on the lot, and he said I could take a look at it (which is what should have been done in the first place) the car smelled fine but it was a mess. It needed to be cleaned. So now..... the second car has to be cleaned. (11:25). It’s so frustrating. The only reason I’m giving 2 stars is because the other guy who walked me to the cars was really nice. I was leaving town for a funeral and I just really didn’t need this extra stress. I will never return.

The customer service was very poor and the professionalism is not there being a costumer I will not rent ever again.

I've been renting car from Avis in Fairview Heights for many years. What keeps me coming back. The manager, Mike Mason. He has always taken care of us. I've had cases where I had to leave quickly to travel to my home state of Florida to visit my aging parents, I would call Mike and he would always accommodate me with a vehicle of my liking and with a very short notice. He is extremely dedicated to his customers needs and as long as Mike Mason is running that Fairview Heights store, I will be back again and again and again. I and my wife Jackie are in deep appreciation of his commitment and caring he has shown over the years.
