Payless Car Rental

Horrible experience! Rental was severely overpriced to begin with. Rental lot CLOSED Sunday evening with NO drop-off option, forcing me to reschedule flight to Monday. Phone customer service reps were not helpful! The ONLY helpful person was the female desk agent at CVG who refunded a discharged late fee. HORRIBLE! I will never rent from Payless again.

Absolute WORST car rental experience I’ve had. Rented out of San Diego, CA. Our rental had broken down on us at one point and we waited almost an hour for a jump. Not even 20 minutes later, it broke down AGAIN and had to wait another 20 minutes for another jump. We of course called and was able to switch out our rental vehicle. Spoke with someone about getting a discount for our troubles, only took off $20. We ended up staying 2 extra days so we called and paid the extra money for the extra days. The very next day I got charged $80 (she wanted to charge me $200) for a “late fee.” I drove up there immediately and spoke with a manager because I clearly talked to someone the previous night about extending. They ended up refunding me $71 and also gave me another night free due to the troubles caused. Well .. that’s not the end of this nightmare. We returned the car when we were supposed to, full tank of gas and completely clean. Guess what I never got? My $250 deposit I was supposed to get after we returned the car. The deposit was taken immediately when I rented the car and I have receipts showing where I was supposed to get roughly $310 total back on my card (the extra money accounted for the free days, discounts, etc) and I have still never received that money. It’s been over a month now. I emailed, called, everything I could do. I will NEVER go through this company ever again.

Would have given NO stars if I could. Got off the flight and took a shuttle to the Payless rental car place. Walk up to see a hand written sign on the counter: “No cars available. Sorry. - Payless”n??? Great. Who conducts business like this??

The customer service was excellent. I needed to extend my rental and drop it off off hours and the CVG branch took very good care of me. I would like to thank Nate and Sam for their excellent and beyond the call of duty customer service.

The car was filthy inside and out, the tire gauge would constantly beep even after filling all tire. The car itself was poorly maintained.
