Payless Car Rental

The only issue I had, is I COULD NOT find how to pop the gas tank cover on Mitsubishi Outlander?, so could not refill tank. Thankfully it got Very Good gas milage over 5 days. Next time I will check that first before I leave the airport. Otherwise it was GREAT! Will definitely rent from them again!

Terrible service when I picked up the car at Newark airport. Agent spoke to us like she was doing us a huge favor. Didn’t give us any details on the car she was giving us, and wanted to just get it over with. The car (GMC SUV) had already done about 35K miles but made a really loud sound and speeds higher than 40mph. We had to blast the music in the car to drown out the sound. Agent at return (Richmond airport) was courteous but turned out to be a crook. He was all smiles and handed the receipt saying I would not be charged anything additional. When I got home I realized he charged an additional $3.99 for fuel even though I had filled up to full just before i returned the car at the airport (the gas station is at the airport). The fuel charge was calculated on the basis of a difference between 15.6 - 15.2!!!nnIt is quite unbelievable the lengths this company will go to make an extra buck. Since it’s $4 I will not be fighting this out. But rest assured I will never rent a car from you again and will make sure I spread the word about your terrible service.

Had to wait an hour for car rental . 2 people working the counter for Avis, Budget, Payless, and Dollar. I stood in line for Payless for about 10 minutes before I was told to go the long Budget Rental line. There should have been signs. When I finally got to the counter the associate advised the car I reserved was not available and offered a downgrade instead of an upgrade. The associate then said I'd have to wait another 30 mins. As I walked to the garage to pick up the car, it was never brought up. It was taking so long the person in the garage put me in another vehicle that was parked.

The service was sub-par. I booked a vehicle through booking.com for a full size SUV. When I went to retrieve my vehicle they told me I had booked for a mini SUV. I had to call customer service and even showed the representative my email which confirmed the type of vehicle I contracted for, yet they kept stating that the vehicle type I asked for did not show up in their system. They even told me to come back in the morning because they did not have more vehicles for me to choose from. Needless to say, after debating over this matter for what was close to an hour, they finally and reluctantly gave me a vehicle which was comparable to the one I was looking to rent. It felt like they were suspicious of me even renting that type of vehicle and were hesitant on meeting my needs. If it were not so late, I would have cancelled my reservation and booked with another company. This was one of the worst rental experiences I have had and it would take a lot convincing for me rent another vehicle through Payless
