Hertz

I picked up a car this Saturday to take my son and his friends to an arcade we rented out for 2 hours during COVID. Right after I picked up his friend, we were pulled over by police for having an expired inspection sticker. I was embarrassed and told the officer we would return the rental right away. I called Hertz and told them we were coming back to pick up a different car. Now we are late for the arcade we rented out. We got into the replacement car and drove around the corner when I thought to check the sticker. Low and behold, the inspection sticker was expired on that car, too! I turned around and brought it back. I asked if we could have a car that had an inspection sticker that was current and the reply I received was “You are not going to get pulled over with out-of-state plates!” I then questioned, “You don’t have ANY car that you can rent me with a current sticker?” and I got the same reply; that I wasn’t going to get pulled over again because it had Texas plates. I was refused a car with a current inspection sticker. This is illegal and the worst customer service I have ever received. I called the Hertz corporate office and they could not believe it either. Beware!
